Formally known as the Pastry Chef Guild of Alberta, the brain-child of Calgary Pastry Chef, Andreas Schwarzer. Chef Schwarzer was looking for a way to bring the Baking & Pastry community together and to celebrate & promote our industry. This all began in 2001.
Today, the Baking & Pastry Arts Association of Alberta is a registered not-for-profit organization hoping to continue the themes of community and celebration through the Pastry Showcase!

It is no secret that the key to every great meal is the quality of its ingredients. At Teatro we source those ingredients from local and organic producers whenever possible. For those items that we cannot acquire locally, we seek elsewhere with equal care. These include extra virgin olive oil from owner Dario Berloni’s family olive groves in Italy’s Marche, finishing salt from Italy and Brittany and fine imported cheeses from all over the world.
The Hotel Arts story began in 2005 when a team of local investors purchased and transformed an old Holiday Inn in Calgary’s Beltline/Victoria Park. They had a vision to create a different kind of hotel in the city – design-centric, fashion-forward and innovative in its culinary offerings.
Over a decade later, the bold vision of our founders still drives our business. We challenge the ordinary. We innovate. Originally founded as a scoop shop in 2003, James Boettcher acquired Fiasco in 2009, in the midst of a recession and with only $1800 in the bank. He reduced it to one storefront, and re-invented the brand. Soon after, the store was gutted by a fire. The lease renewal, only 6 months later, made it impossible to continue and James spent the the first half of 2010 rethinking business. Finding a garage to make the first few batches, then a 100ft commissary space. His disruptive vision for doing business differently, honesty in craft, and creative innovation of the Consumer Packaged Goods space, has charted a course for Fiasco's business model & led to its success.
